Smart Cruise Control (SCC)

Smart Cruise Control is a driver convenient feature that uses a radar to detect a vehicle ahead and automatically speeds up or speed down to maintain a safe distance. When there is no vehicle ahead, SCC keeps preset speed automatically and if a slow moving vehicle appears, SCC reduces speed to keep safe distance.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

Lane Keeping Assist System detects danger when a vehicle drifts out of its lane while the driver dozes off at the wheel and keeps the vehicle in its lane by controlling the steering wheel.

LKAS uses a camera mounted on the windshield to recognize lane markings and current location and if the vehicle drifts out of its lane without the driver turning on the turn signal, then appropriate steering torque is applied to help driver keep the vehicle in its lane.

Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)

TSR, Traffic Sign Recognition System is a driver convenience feature that recognizes speed limit signs from the images of the road captured on forward camera. The system relays the speed limit information to the driver.

  • Prevents speed violation by recognizing speed limit signs on the road regardless of day or night
  • It applies CMOS image pattern recognition technology to output from CMOS image sensor (Detect traffic sign location and determines the type)
  • Using I/F signal from the vehicle, make a comparison to current speed and if violation is found, send out a warning (example of system application)
  • Later can be combined with brake system to expand automatic speed control system (to prevent speeding)
  • Performs self-diagnostic as well as data transfer using CAN communication
